Learn Together & Anti-Bullying Assemblies
We had the most amazing assemblies for all classes and their parents on Friday 24th October. Each class performed a Hallowe’en themed piece and to see everyone dressed up was all part of the fun involved. Thank you to the many parents, guardians and other relatives who came along, we know you enjoyed the hard work put in by all. Both assemblies were very well attended and some photos can be seen as well as recordings heard on http://www.cetns.ie/category/assembly/

Our next senior assembly will be hosted by 4th classes and we hope the parents of these classes can join us on Friday 14th at 9:30am.

Our next junior assembly takes place on 21st November and will be hosted by the children from senior infant classes at 9:30am.

Thank you kindly, Jen & JP

Sponsored Walk (Fundraising) at CETNS
Our CETNS sponsored walk fundraising brought in a total of €7,567.00. Thank you so much to all who supported this fundraising drive and in particular Pinergy who sponsored the walk. We hope you will support our next fundraising event in the school.

CETNS & Intel Mini-Scientist Days
On Wednesday the 18th November children throughout the school from Junior Infants-4th classes will be participating in our CETNS Science Day. This means children will be rotating from class to class seeing lots of different experiments from 11am. it is a great day and the children learn so much.

On Wednesday November 19th the Intel Mini-Scientist Day takes place in our school hall for 5th & 6th class children. Parents are invited in from all classes to view the experiments from 10.30am-2pm. Intel will send a few judges to assess the children’s work and it is heartening to see the amount of work the children put into their experiments.

Thank you so much to all staff throughout the school for their work on the Science strand of the curriculum but in particular to 5th & 6th class teachers for the additional work this project entails.

Aladdin & Database Information
We would like to thank parents for returning the Aladdin information sheets so we can update our school database. We are still awaiting some forms and even if you have completed forms for a sibling in the school, we need to update each individual child’s details. We hope you will return these forms as soon as possible. Thank you especially to Paula and Ann who have worked hard to ensure we are up to date as quickly as possible.

Parents have been using our new online payments facility in the school over the past few weeks and you can access the link for this on the home page of our website at https://www.aladdin.ie/p/12451037

Thank you kindly to those parents who have paid the resources monies so far this year. We need all parents to pay the resources fees as promptly as possible. You might have a look at the BOM Financial report to fully appreciate the shortfall in funding in the school. If you are having financial difficulties please contact Aedín/ Paula in confidence at the school office.

Board of Management Update
The Board of Management have circulated an update for the school community regarding planning for the school and including a financial report for funding the school last year. We sent a text to parents to indicate these updates were in the childrens’ schoolbags. If you have not received it please contact the school office. The Board of Management wishes to thank and acknowledge the ongoing support and hard work of everyone in the school and school community.

FAI Soccer & GAA Coaching
The FAI Soccer coaching began this week and children in Aoife, John, David & Jen’s class are now participating in this. GAA coaching continues with Sarah, Jennifer, Yvonne & Ruth’s classes. Many children throughout the school participate in games and skills development.

Cycle Safety for 5th Classes
Last week cycle safety training began for the children in both 5th classes. A letter was issued to parents of children in these classes and we know the children really enjoy this aspect of road safety and particularly cycling around the yard! We also encourage as many children as possible to cycle to school and help us to alleviate our traffic difficulties and continue working for our environment.

Cross Country Running
Unfortunately due to bad weather Cross Country Running was postponed yesterday. Andreas will be in touch with the next date as soon as possible. Please also refer to the calendar on the school website www.cetns.ie which is constantly being updated.

Enrolments
CETNS operates a first-come, first-served enrolment policy. It is important to enrol all children including siblings as there are no discretionary places available. We will be offering places for incoming junior infants 2015 over the next few weeks.

PTA AGM Update
Thank you to the many parents who attended the PTA AGM. An update has been sent out to all parents with the Board of Management update sent home in schoolbags last Wednesday. If you would like to contact Damien Carbery please refer to contact details on the PTA update.

PTA Walking Club
The CETNS PTA Walking Club got off to a fantastic start on Sunday 2nd November as 14 intrepid climbers and their families scaled the Sugarloaf on a magnificent, sunny winter morning. The views were amazing and they even got to see the Mountain rescue helicopter in action… but not for one of our group thankfully. The Club will be organising walks to different places on the last Sunday of every month. The next one will take place on Sunday 30th November @ 11.30am.

Venue: The Hellfire Club. Further details will be posted on the PTA Facebook Page and the school website closer to the date.

Junior Infants Corridor & Immunisations
Immunisation takes place on Friday 28th Nov. A letter will be issued by the HSE soon to all parents.

Concerns were raised on wet days when junior corridors can get very busy with parents and buggies on their way to the classrooms. Some artwork is being damaged as a result of the volume of people on the corridors. Please take care as you pass along these corridors as it is very upsetting for the children if their work has been damaged on the corridors.

Educate Together Update
Enrolment for the Educate Together Secondary School in Hansfield is open for Sept 2015. The link is

http://hansfieldsecondary.ie/current/category/news/

Hansfield ETSS will visit the children in 5th & 6th classes on Friday 14th November to talk about their school. We look forward to meeting with Bernie Judge, the Principal, her staff and students.

Old Mobile Phones Appeal @ CETNS
On Tuesday 25th November, CETNS is appealing for your support in collecting as many old mobile phones as we can. Irish Autism Action are exchanging iPads and mobile educational packs for schools in exchange for old mobile phones. Please send in any old mobile phones you have lying about the house for the school to recycle through Irish Autism Action & help us to try to get some educational benefit from the recycling.

Thank you kindly, Caitrín
