A massive Congratulations to both Jen and John’s fourth classes for a very enjoyable and informative assembly! The children worked extremely hard all week long, creating their individualised t-shirts as well as posters. The children also completed a lot of work based around the two topics of the assembly, ‘The Rights of the Child’ and ‘Anti-Bullying’.
The children presented a selection of these rights along with some very interesting statistics from around the world. It is very clear that there is still a lot of work to be done in order to ensure that children everywhere enjoy the same rights that we do in Ireland.
The children also sang a song called ‘ Loser Like Me’. This song is sung from the perspective of someone who is being bullied. Unusually the person in the song says to the bully, ‘I know you want to be a loser like me!’. It is a very powerful song as it tackles bullying from a very different perspective. More importantly the children really enjoyed singing it and have even recorded a special version for the website.
It has been a great week preparing for our assembly. The children did a fantastic job. Jen and John are extremely proud of all the children in their classes. Well done all!!
