A big fáilte romhat
We wish everyone the very best as we face into another school year.
Over the summer months Yvonne has left us to go back to her native Cork. We would like thank her for her dedication and hard work and wish her all the best for the future.
We are delighted to welcome a few new (and familiar) faces to CETNS: Michelle and Jennifer will be working as SNAs while Sinead is teaching Senior Infants. We hope they will enjoy working at CETNS and look forward to their many talents being shared with us all.
Please note the school office is open daily Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm. Siobhan is very happy to assist parents with queries, however, there are many queries that can be answered by consulting the school’s website www.cetns.ie such as the school calendar, booklists and resources monies can also be paid online through Aladdin or on the red button in the top right hand corner of our website: www.cetns.ie
Resources monies are to be paid by the end of September please.
Class Curriculum meetings
Class curricular meetings will be held in the week 18th-22th September for Junior Infant-6th class parents. Exact days will be confirmed soon. These meetings are a wonderful opportunity to meet with the class teachers who will give an overview of the class curriculum of a particular class level and how best we can work together to ensure that your child has a great school year.
As these meetings are general class meetings, should parents wish to speak to a teacher regarding individual concerns, please make an appointment to do so at another stage, as this is not the appropriate forum for raising such concerns.
We hope as many of you as possible can attend these meetings. The meetings are for parents/guardians only and arrangements should be made for children to be looked after.
The BOM have taken a decision to host the meetings within school time. We hope you will join us from 9:15am-9:45am on the relevant morning in the school hall. Teachers will return to their classes at that time.
Parental involvement at CETNS
We are delighted to encourage parents to get involved regularly in many aspects of school life at CETNS and in particular in classes other than that of your child(ren). If you would like to offer an occasional ‘helping hand’ to the school please email your name and telephone number to firstname.lastname@example.org and put ‘Parent helper’ in the subject bar and a member of staff will be in touch soon.
The type of activities parents usually help with include listening to children’s reading (all class levels), school trips, assisting with work stations in class, Power Hour for literacy, Learn Together i.e., belief systems, help with library & literacy preparation, Aistear play activities etc.
To ensure the safety of children all parents/adults that wish to help in the school must complete a Garda vetting form. Forms are available from the office. The completed forms will remain confidential and only viewed by authorised staff.
If a parent is considering reading with children, they must complete the form also.
After School Activities
Our ASA registration day will take place on Thursday in the hall. A list of activities for 2016/2017 is on the website along with contact details and information about the coordinators.
Please note in the interests of health & safety for staff and children in the school, all ASA co-ordinators will collect children directly after school in the soft play area of the yard. Children attending later activities will not be permitted to walk around the school unsupervised. Parents collecting children after activities are encouraged to collect the children from the co-ordinator at the set-down area.
Welcome back everyone, we hope you all had a wonderful Summer. We’d like to extend a warm welcome to all the new parents and teachers who have joined the school and look forward to working together in the coming months. All parents and teachers are automatically members of the PTA and anyone who would like to become more involved can get further details by emailing email@example.com or by contacting your class rep.
The PTA hosted 2 Playdates for the incoming Junior Infant classes over the Summer and had the pleasure of hosting the Incoming JI Coffee Morning last Friday. We have monthly evening meetings and monthly Coffee mornings in the 12th Lock after drop-off. Our AGM will take place in October. Further details re: exact dates will follow in the coming weeks.
