Our ethos picnic in the field!
For the month of June, we studied the lives of various inspirational people, such as Nelson Mandela and Ghandi, looking at the positive influences they have made to the world today. We took this theme as an idea to create our own group projects. The inspirational people we chose were Abraham Lincoln, Charles Darwin, Leonardo DI Vinci, Florence Nightingale, Mother Teresa, Jesus Christ, Joan of Ark, Mozart, William Shakespeare and Anne Frank. Through our research, we discovered lots of interesting facts which we shared with one another on presentation. The projects were on exhibition in the classroom for a full week. Well done 3rd class, I hope they have inspired you all to do something great someday in the future too!
Lego Mind Storm!
We were very lucky to have had the chance to build our own robots out of Lego this week. Lana, one of the parents involved in our school, brought in all the equipment that we needed. We had to follow instructions carefully and work with Ruth’s senior infants to make our finished pieces. When every group was ready, we took our robots out to the yard to experiment with them. It was great fun! Thank you Lana!
We have been learning about the properties and characteristics of materials in Science. We have been doing some experiments to investigate materials and change. Here are some pictures of our experiments to see what materials dissolve in water. We tried mixing soil, salt, sugar, coffee, tea leaves, flour and oil in water, with some surprising results!
We had a brilliant day at Causey Farm last Friday! We did many activities such as going on a tractor ride, doing an obstacle course, going through a maze, petting farmyard animals, blowing bubbles…and lots more. But the activity that really stood out for us was bog jumping! As you can see, we just loved getting dirty!!!
