Junior Infant Homework: 21st – 24th May
The homework is as follows.
- Reading book. Please continue to read with your child every night. The books are getting a little bit harder so continue to help your child to sound out words where necessary and remind them when there is a tricky word. If any words are particularly difficult and don’t follow the rules, please read them for your child. There are a lot of books that are not in children’s folders in school when we are looking to use them at stations or to change them. We have a limited supply of books so when they are not returned we do not have enough to share between the classes. We would really appreciate it if their reading books were in their schoolbags every day.
- Tricky words- Please revise all tricky words to date I, the, he, she, me, we, be, was, to, do, are, all, you, your, come, some, said, here, there & they..
New tricky words for this week are as follows:
Monday -go
Tuesday - no
Wednesday - so
Thursday - my
As well as reading the tricky words it would be good to encourage your child to put them in sentences and to practice writing them.
(Reminder that the tricky words are words that don't follow the normal rules. They trick us because they cannot always be sounded out or written correctly by listening for the sounds in them. We have to simply look at them and learn them)
- Sounds: It is still important to continue to revise the sounds on a daily basis with your children until they know them well.
If you have any questions at all please let us know.
Thanks,
Susan & Peter
