A Thuismitheoirí,

Fáilte romhaibh ar ais ar scoil

Welcome back to school everybody and especially to all the children who have returned with stories of holiday adventures at home and abroad. I hope the children are delighted to be back amongst friends again and ready for a little hard work! I trust everyone had an enjoyable and restful summer.

Fáilte ar ais to all staff too and a special welcome to the new teachers who have joined the team here at CETNS. Aoibhinn, Isla & Gillian are very welcome. Unfortunately we have lost some members of our team who have moved on and we would like to thank them for all their hard work in the school. We wish Jennifer McHugo & Aidan the very best of luck in the future and hope they will come back and visit us soonJ.

Fáilte speisialta roimh na Naíonáin Bheaga

We had a very big day for our Junior Infants September 3rd and we extend a special CETNS welcome to all the Junior Infants (and their parents) who started with us. We were very proud of how grown up they were on their first day at ‘big school’. We hope they will continue to settle in and enjoy their time at CETNS. Well done to all staff involved in helping. Junior Infants will be in school from 9am-12:30pm this week and from 9am-1:40pm from Monday 17th September. Thank you to all who assisted with the coffee morning to all our new parents on the first day.

Fáilte eile

Finally welcome also to all the new children in throughout the school who joined us, we hope you will enjoy your time here and make friends quickly. I know all the children throughout the school will help you to settle in nicely .

Contact details

Aladdin service is set up in the school. In order to ensure we have the correct details for your child, please inform us if you have changed either phone numbers or address as soon as possible. A text has already been issued to all parents at this stage so if you have not received a text to your designated text number contact Siobhán in the office.

Resources

The resource monies were due to be paid by the end of June 2018. If parents are having difficulty paying please inform the office in confidence, resources monies can be paid in instalments. The resources monies cover book rental books, pupil personal accident insurance, homework diaries, photocopying materials and class subscriptions etc. The homework diaries have been given out today in school. Please note there are still some resources outstanding from last academic year. Please also note the deposit paid by junior infant parents covers the resources monies. http://www.cetns.ie/Page/Resource-Payments/723/Index.html

Class Curriculum Meetings

The class meetings will be held in the school hall from Monday 17th onwards. See dates for your child(ren)’s class here http://www.cetns.ie/News/Class-Curriculum-Meetings/803/Index.html . These meetings are an opportunity to inform parents of curricular information relevant to your child’s learning. They are not a forum for specific queries relating to your child(ren) but rather a general class meeting. Individual parent-teacher meetings will be arranged later in the school year. Should you have a query or concern about your child at any point during the year please contact the class teacher and arrange a time to meet through the school office secretary@cetns.ie

Congratulations to Ashkan

Ashkan in Sarah’s 2nd class won the Grand Champion of Aloha in Russia over the summer holidays. He set an Irish Aloha record in getting the trophy as it was Ireland’s first time entering. Well done to Ashkan, we were all delighted to hear all about his achievements.

Committees

The children will shortly be electing committee members in classes for Student Council and Green Committees. We are looking forward to working with the new committees. We’d like to thank all children who participated last year and wish our new recruits the very best for the coming year.

Car Park

Please observe car park rules at reception and dismissal times. Please do not park in the staff car park at any time, this is on the left as you enter school grounds. It is extremely important that you DO NOT DOUBLE PARK anywhere in the school grounds as this is very dangerous. The set-down area is strictly for drop off & pick up only & cars are not to be parked here at any time. We have already had multiple complaints from our neighbours, please don’t block driveways & be considerate drivers.

Reception/Dismissal

School starts at 9am and the yard will be open from 8:50am where children are welcome to line up in the yard. Their teacher will collect them at 9am and bring them to up to their classrooms. Please note children are under the supervision of their parents until 9am in the yard.

Children’s Absence

In line with the Tusla/NEWB (National Education Welfare Board) all children who are absent from school must provide a written note to the class teacher with the date & duration of the absence and the reason for the absence.

Healthy Lunches

We have a policy of heathy lunches in the school and hope the children and parents are mindful of his when preparing lunches for school days.

WSE Report

The Department has issued the whole school evaluation report with the school’s response. If you wish to view the report it is available here

http://www.cetns.ie/Page/WSE-Report-2018/805/Index.html

Facebook/WhatsApp pages

Please be aware the Facebook & WhatsApp pages in use by parents are not coming from CETNS and as such anything communicated on these pages are the responsibility of individuals involved.

CETNS communicates only through the school newsletter issued online every fortnight http://www.cetns.ie/ , our school App (iClassCMS, pick our school name, log on & give your details) and direct texting/emails from CETNS.

After Schools Activities

The Open Day for registration for allafter school activities at CETNS was held last Thursday. Parents and children had the opportunity to see the activities offered and a chance to register for those of interest. It is important to note should there be difficulty with ASA events they are to be communicated directly with ASA providers. We ask that parents collecting children wait on the set down area for collection and there is no hanging around in the school building or on school grounds. Parents can wait in the school carpark for their child if necessary.

As the Budget looms the INTO (Irish National Teachers’ Organisation) has asked us to draw your attention to the following information.

Have you got three minutes?

Primary education in Ireland needs a #BudgetBoost in #Budget2019. The INTO set out how we can unlock potential and deliver the best primary education system in the world. Share with TDs, senators, public representatives and parents!

We really need your help to share this with members, parents and public representatives on Facebook and Twitter.
