Dates for your diary
5 October: Tree Day
17 October: Cross Country League in Porterstown (see below)
Hard to believe it’s October already. Well done to all new children and especially our junior infants who settled in really quickly.
On Friday we had a special assembly to say farewell to Yvonne who managed to come up from Cork. The children were delighted to see her again and read lovely cards full of great anecdotes and sang a song specifically composed by David, Siobhan and Aoife for the occasion. Thanks to all involved.
CETNS will have its annual sponsored walk to raise funds for the school on Friday 27th October @ 11am.

Daily Mile – junior parkrun
A lot of classes are enjoying the Daily Mile. We cannot stress the importance of daily physical activity enough. CETNS is trying to get all children out and about and active. There are many local sports clubs you might consider for your child. If you are interested in joining a small team with the aim of establishing a local junior parkrun, please make contact with Andreas through the school office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Green Team are beginning work on our 8th green flag. The theme for this flag is Global Citizenship: Marine Environment.
Coastwatch are running a coastal survey from 15th September to the 15th October and are looking for participants to help out. This could be a lovely project to do with your children and feeds in nicely with our next green flag. Details and downloads are available at http://coastwatch.org.europe
We would love to get some photos of participating families to display on our green team noticeboard. These can be emailed for Karen’s attention to email@example.com.
Thursday 5 October is Tree Day. The Green Team is going to plant some trees to mark the occasion. If you are available to help please contact Paula McGuinn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Space Week – 4th to 10th October 2017
During Space Week, CETNS will be exploring the moon with Project TARA. This year, CETNS will have their very own unique picture of the Moon taken by TARA Telescope Network in CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory in Cork.
The picture will have a time tag of when the image of the moon was taken – meaning our image will be unique to our school!
Check out www.spaceweek.ie for more details and events nationwide.

The first PTA coffee morning of the year was held last Friday after drop-off in the 12th Lock pub and we will continue to host the coffee mornings on the last Friday of each month. This month’s coffee morning will take place on Friday, 27th October which is the last day before the midterm break.
We are hoping to have our AGM during the last week of October and will confirm the date as soon as we can.
