Engineering week in 5th and 6th class was very educational indeed. Paul Mc Gowan one of our parents works for an Irish company called Oneview Healthcare as a Senior Mobile Device Management Engineer. Oneview works with hospitals on a patient care experience platform. Paul’s role is to manage and maintain over 14,000 devices across Australia, America and soon to be Europe (Children’s Hospital Ireland). He gave us a fascinating talk on the future of patient care with examples of how Oneview makes patient's hospital stays memorable using interactive technology.
Dennis, Seán, Larissa and Conall from Hilti came in to tell us all about Hilti's work in construction, design and tools manufacture. We were shown tools, and construction parts including frames and bolts used in a typical building project. The children were shown how these parts are put together along with a fantastic presentation showcasing the work Hilti does in Ireland and around the globe.
Thank you so much Paul, Dennis, Seán, Larissa and Conall for taking time from your busy schedules to visit us during Engineering Week. The children really enjoyed learning about these two different areas of engineering and how engineering can help to make our world a safer, more interactive and interesting place to live. You may have inspired some of our children from C.E.T.N.S. to become budding engineers in the future - watch this space!!
