We started our day at Croke Park, where my group — Stella, Alanya, Enzo, Alex, and I, also
known as The Eco-Builders — set up our project and explored the venue while waiting for the
prototype-building competition to begin. We were amazed by the effort Amazon had put into
making the place look so impressive and welcoming.
Before the building started, there was an announcement explaining the schedule and activities
for the day. Once the competition began, we chose to use LEGO to build our prototype because
it was easy to use and very durable. Halfway through, we were given a 30-minute tour around
Croke Park, where we learned about its history and importance. After the tour, we had another
30 minutes to continue working on our project.
Later, we were given lunch bags containing a sandwich or wrap, water, fruit, chips, and a
chocolate bar. Soon after, the judges came around to inspect our project. They were impressed
by the amount of effort and creativity we had put into it, and they even gave us 3D-printed
medals. We were already very happy with how things had gone, but during the award ceremony,
we were shocked and excited to discover that we had actually won a prize!
We were overjoyed and celebrated together. A photo was taken of our team, and we were
presented with a LEGO Technic-style set as part of our prize. Even after sitting back down, we
were still amazed that we had won.
At the end of the event, there was a final goodbye speech before we headed back to the bus.
Before leaving, we were also given “swag bags” containing a notebook, bottle, and pencil.
When we finally returned to school, everyone walked home feeling excited, proud, and happy
about our achievement.
