What a week for CETNS sport! Following the girls' incredible win earlier in the week, our boys’ soccer team were also crowned champions, securing an unforgettable double for the school.
The final was a thrilling and action-packed match from start to finish. The boys played like a proper team, supporting one another, communicating brilliantly, and showcasing some wonderful passages of play throughout. Their teamwork and determination were clear for all to see.
We took a deserved lead in the first half thanks to a well-worked team move, finished expertly by Ruairí. Gaelscoil Uí Earcáin came out strongly after the break and grabbed an equaliser, putting us under intense pressure for the next ten minutes. But our lads stood tall, defending courageously and staying composed during this tricky spell.
Then came a glorious surge of goals. Jerónimo scored twice, the first a powerful header from a corner, and the second a contender for goal of the season as he nutmegged not one but two defenders before calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. The scoring was wrapped up by Mikolaj, who finished a swift counterattack with style.
The celebrations were well and truly earned! The boys gave a performance full of passion, skill, and spirit, and were cheered on by a fantastic group of supporters who lifted the team when it mattered most. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the team - your energy made a real difference!
When both teams returned to school (on Monday and again, today), they were greeted with heroic welcomes, led in full voice by our amazing Infants and the rest of the school. The CETNS spirit was well and truly alive this week.
