Children are the centre of our school. Staff and parents together ensure our success at CETNS. It’s important that all members of the school community are fully knowledgeable regarding our special ethos which we are very proud of.

Educate Together schools provide a unique, inclusive and equality-based school ethos, as set out in Educate Together’s Charter. The Charter describes schools that guarantee:

  • equality of access and esteem to children irrespective of their social, cultural or religious backgroun
  • are learner centred in their approach to education
  • and are run as participatory democracies, with respectful partnership between parents, pupils and staff. Screenshot 2023-03-13 at 21.37.29.png

Like many other schools in Ireland, Educate Together schools are state-funded and teach the National Curriculum. They are non-fee-paying schools and are open to students of all backgrounds. They are co-educational and have no school uniforms. But they are much more than that: Educate Together schools work hard to instil a sense of equality and justice in students. They embrace the input of parents, students, staff and the wider community to improve the school in every way possible. They are committed to enabling students to achieve their full potential. All students are encouraged to explore their full range of abilities and are provided with equal opportunities regardless of their identity. Educate Together schools put students at the heart of all policies and practices. All children have equal access to school and no one religion or worldview is given priority over another in Educate Together schools.

Our Monthly Values

Our Learn Together Curriculum

Ethical Education is a key component of the Educate Together model; it’s a curriculum that is living in Ireland’s equality based schools and it seeks to offer students the opportunity to meaningfully and critically reflect upon the world around them. Our Learn Together Ethical Curriculum is taught alongside the National Curriculum. It replaces religious instruction and focuses on questions of equality, justice, sustainability and active citizenship, along with many belief systems and worldviews.

The Learn Together Curriculum can be found here: Learn-Together-Curriculum

We have three special days in our school to promote what is important to us in CETNS:

  1. In term 1 we have ‘Odd Socks Day’. This day celebrates diversity and inclusivity.
  2. In term 2 we have ‘Lá Cineálta’ which means ‘Kindness Day’; a day where we are extra kind to everyone and ourselves.
  3. In term 2 we have ‘Earth Day’ promoting how we can each look after the environment/our planet, sustainability and appreciate for the beauty around us.

We invite families in our community to mark these days with us through simple discussions and fun activities at home.
