Junior Infant Homework: 23rd – 26th April
The homework for this week is as follows.
- Reading book. Please continue to read the books sent home with your child every day. Try to sound out each word in the books. They may need help with some of the words that cannot be blended phonetically. It is really important that these books are in their folders during the day as they will be read during stations in school as well as at home. Books are swapped every Monday and Friday and if the books are not returned we will not have enough to share between the 2 classes.
- Tricky words
Monday - to
Tuesday - do
Wednesday - are
Thursday - all
Please also revise tricky words learned to date - I, the, he, she, me, we, be & was.
Reminder that the tricky words are words that don't follow the normal rules. They trick us because they cannot always be sounded out or written correctly by listening for the sounds in them. We have to simply look at them and learn them. A list of the first ten words have been sent home in the children's folders and the next ten will be sent home this week. We learn 1 tricky word per day (Monday – Thursday).
- Sounds
It is important to continue to revise the sounds on a daily basis with your children until they know them well. The digraphs can be particularly difficult for them (e.g. oi, ue, er, ar, sh, ch etc) so might need some extra practice.
If you have any questions at all please let us know.
Thanks,
Susan & Peter
