A Thuismitheoirí/ A Chaomhnóirí,

The past number of weeks have been very busy at CETNS and there are a number of events coming up over the next few weeks too which the good weather will hopefully hep make an enjoyable time for all. Please remember children will have lunch breaks in the field and as such should be mindful of allergies particularly on the grass. Don’t forget sunscreen or hats too!

Learn Together Assembly

Our next assembly will take place hosted by Junior Infants May 24th at 9:30am. We hope parents of Sinéad & JP’s classes will come and join us on the day.

Online Enrolment and Online Payments

We are currently switching over to online enrolments. All enrolments must now be entered via the Enrolment page on the website.

We are also transitioning to Online payments. Currently resource payments and school trips can be paid by cash to the school or online

via a payment link emailed to each parent. From September we hope to have payments fully online. We would ask parents to ensure that the

school has an up-to-date email address for at least one parent on file.

If parents have any queries please contact the school office.

Green Team & Student Council

Well done to all involved in our Green Team & Student Council committees this year. We were awarded our 8th Green Flag after our visit from An Taisce and it was due to the hard work and commitment of children, staff & parents. Some members of the team will go to the national awards ceremony on the 22nd May to represent CETNS and pick up our new flag.

Santry Athletics Finals 2019

Our school has entered children in the annual Santry Athletics Finals in Morton Stadium, Santry. Trials for all the different events are currently taking place. These events include individual sprints, sprint relays, 500m, hurdles, high-jump, long-jump and shot-putt.

The Track and Field Day Finals(500m, hurdles, high-jump, long-jump and shot-putt) takes place on Monday 20th May and the Sprints and Relays Finals will take place on Wednesday 23rd May. We will be leaving the school at 9am on both mornings to make the 9:30am registration in Santry. We have rented buses to take us to and from Santry on both dates. The cost of the bus will be around €9 per child. Consent forms and letters with more details will be sent home over the next fortnight after all pupils who are participating have been finalised.

A special word of thanks to JP for co-ordinating preparation for this event within CETNS.

CETNS Annual Art Exhibition

The annual art exhibition was a huge success and it was a pleasure to see the hard work of children and staff being showcased in the school hall. We are very lucky to have such talented artists in the school. All the children enjoyed seeing each others work. We are sure the parents enjoyed the exhibition as well.

Well done to Ruth for co-ordinating the exhibition and thank you to everyone who helped to make it a success.

Blue Star

Aoife and Isla will be holding a Blue Star exhibition between our two classrooms on Thursday morning. 5th class parents are invited to come in and view the work that the children have done on the EU over the past year.

Soccer Teams

Well done to our boys’ & girls’ soccer teams for representing CETNS this year, we are immensely proud of them and thank them and both Conor & Ailish for their commitment to the children and their enjoyment of sport.

Parent Table Quiz

Many, many thanks for all the help in making the quiz a success! We are so delighted with the result. In total we made €1,011 towards the payment of a drama teacher for this year’s school play. We would also like to thank those who could not make it but who collectively donated an €230 towards the event. Many thanks to you all again.

Marie-Louise & Mairéad

Parent led Awesome Walls competition

As part of the annual National Climbing Competition organised by Awesome Walls, nine of our 1st and 2nd class children took part in the pre-selection. Children had lots of fun, sweets and Awesome Walls t-shirts as part of the competition. Children were very focused and committed and worked hard while encouraging each other. We could all feel the team spirit growing stronger. Scores were tight and one of our teams from the 2nd classes made it to the final. Our little blue spiders from Pat’s class that attended the final won 3rd place in teams and 2nd place in the individual competition. We are very proud of them. See picture below.

Thank you, Beti
