Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome back to all. It is great to see the children looking refreshed & ready to work hard after their break. With all the recent health warnings about the flu we would ask if your child is sick please don’t send them into school as it only spreads the infection amongst other children and staff and we have children in school whose health complications place them at greater risk of such illnesses. See https://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/children-should-not-go-back-to-school-if-they-have-flu-symptoms-1.3344830
We hope that you all had a good break and we wish you a happy and healthy 2018.
STEM Family Project
As part of our promotion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) work this year, we would love to introduce a monthly STEM Family Project for you to participate in!
STEM Family Projects are the perfect way to create meaningful connections between the school and home for science, technology, engineering and maths processes.
January’s challenge is to create something useful that includes sweets in its construction! For example using mini marshmallows and match sticks.
* You may use any item from your home.
* You can work alone or with your family.
* Remember to think like an inventor, be a problem solver, use your imagination and have fun!
* We'd love to see some photos of the process, email us!
* We will display all STEM family projects at school! Get creative and have some fun!
Punctuality
The children are working on improving punctuality in school and “In line by nine” is our mantra. However if you happen to be late please let your child proceed to classes by themselves. This will foster their independence and cut down on unnecessary interruptions to the class work already underway.
Works at Castleknock Tennis Club
The construction work at the tennis club will commence shortly. Parents will be unable to park alongside the Tennis Club entrance as construction traffic will be using the road and it will be blocked off soon. A precise date is to be confirmed & we will let you know when we are notified.
Pedestrian access to the tunnel will continue during construction work.
Parent Questionnaires
Over the course of the next week some parent questionnaires will be sent home in school bags for completion & return to the school for 22nd January (next Monday) please. There will be an explanatory note accompanying the questionnaires for a random sampling of classes.
Parking
Please be considerate and kind to our neighbours when parking at arrival & dismissal times.
Safety is of the upmost importance for children and adults using the school grounds.
After School Activities
Athletics has started back in the mornings with Aidan.
Soccer starts with Conor after school this Wednesday 17th January for 5th & 6th classes only.
