Dear Parents/Guardians,

We need your support for our sponsored walk fundraiser on the 27th October. Please come along and dress up and join us along our walk at 11:30am, theme of Hallowe’en/Recycle dress up if you like. Cards will be in school bags today and should be returned on or before the 27th October.

Important Safety Notices

Please be mindful of our neighbours when parking in Beechpark Close. It is important that we have a good relationship with our neighbours and they should at all times be able to drive out of their driveways & housing estates. We have had a number of complaints from local residents.

Everyone on the premises has to adhere to our Fire Alarm procedures. Any parents on site/in the building at the time of an activation should make their way to an assembly point in the school car park beside the tennis club wall.

Unfortunately we had some vandalism recently. We were advised to keep gates closed for security reasons. The main gate will remain open after school hours from 3pm. Tigers/ASA collections will be from the set down area only.

We managed to return some Lost & Found items on Friday. We encourage you to tag clothing & look for clothing the day after they have been mislaid.

The Community Gardaí will be coming in to talk to the senior classes next week.

Resources monies payment letters have gone out for 2017/2018 but regrettably we are also still seeking payments from some parents for 2016/2017.

Green Team

We had our 1st Green Team meeting and it looks like we have a wonderful dedicated team on board this year, who are very eager to work towards making our school an even greener school than it already is. They will be working towards our 8th Green Flag on Marine Environment, which will take 2 years to obtain. We also planted three eucalyptus trees and one tiny alder to mark our first meeting.

Student Council

A lot of pupils made huge efforts in preparing for their candidacy and well done to all who went for it. The new student council will have their first meeting next Thursday.

Dyslexia Awareness Week: Oct 2nd-8th

Some of our pupils made amazing posters on Dyslexia, Max & Luke composed a fantastic acrostic poem. Well done to all those who added to the board. If you want to come and have a look at our Dyslexia Awareness Week board, please come along, it’s near the lift in reception.

Morning Athletics

Parents are needed for Morning Athletics from 8:30am to 8:50am from Monday to Thursday. Talk to office about arranging Garda Vetting.

Assembly

As the hall started to fill up, our nerves started to kick in. We got into our places and prepared for our opening song. It was called “Lean on Me” and six of us were harmonising. After the song, a few people presented their inspirational quotes and poems. Next, four groups stepped down to do their acts. Our acts highlighted the goals of friendship and hopefully we taught people the true meaning of friendship. We then ended the assembly with a few more quotes, finishing with a song by Ed Sheeran called “What do I Know?” We’d like to thank Peter for helping with our assembly and with the choice of amazing songs. Also thanking Liz and JP for all their hard work.

Parent Teacher Association

We hope that some parents will join in the fun of dressing up with the children for this year’s sponsored walk at the end of term. As the walk takes place on the last Friday of the month, we will also be hosting our monthly coffee morning in the 12th Lock on the same day. Please check the PTA Facebook page and Twitter for further details.

As yet, we do not have an exact date for our AGM but will let you know as soon as we do.

Beir bua,

Aedín and Andreas
