A Thuismitheoirí/ A Chaomhnóirí,

The past few weeks have been busy in school as the children enjoyed the many activities of Seachtain na Gaeilge. Please have a look at some of the photos from the céilí here http://www.cetns.ie/News/Ceili-agus-Climate-Strike/831/Index.html Over the next few weeks as we continue working away we will be putting the final touches to the annual CETNS Art Exhibition.

Learn Together Assembly

Our next assembly will take place hosted by 3rd classes March 29th at 9:30am. We hope parents of Conor & Paula’s classes will come and join us on the day.

Green Team & Student Council

Both committees continue to work hard on behalf of the school and we are delighted to have seen their work over the past few weeks. On 15th March the children from both 5th classes and the Green Team and Student Council marched outside our school on Beechpark Avenue. The children prepared banners and posters from recycled card and paper for use during the march and you can view some of the images here http://www.cetns.ie/News/Ceili-agus-Climate-Strike/831/Index.html We would especially like to thank Elaine, Isla and Aoife for their preparation during an already busy week as well as Clare & Eileen who also helped us out on the day.

Ice-Pack Amnesty Call

We have quite a number of ice-packs at CETNS for children who hurt themselves falling or bumping into each other in the yard, however lately we have been short quite a few of them. If by any chance an ice-pack has been sent home with your child could you please arrange to return it to the school again? Thank you.

Cross Country Success

Last Wednesday as the sun shone gloriously in Dublin 104 children from CETNS headed down the Navan Road to The Bogeys to participate in a cross country event. We all, children, staff and parents alike had a wonderful time and the excitement amongst the children was palpable before and after each race. Many red-faced children were seen gasping for their water and bananas after their races and it was great to see the children get a run out especially those who did so for their first time! Well done to all and look forward to seeing how much the training pays off when we come to the Morton Stadium meet in the Summertime. A special word of thanks to JP, Pat, Conor & Anne from the staff and all the parents who came down to help and support us also on the day.

Aldi IRFU Rugby Sticker Collection

Well done to Noah in Paula’s 3rd class who collected Aldi IRFU Rugby Stickers over the past number of weeks. A large bulky envelope was sent off recently and hopefully it will bring some good news in return.

CETNS Annual Art Exhibition

Each year staff and children arrange for selected pieces of art work from their annual programme of the visual arts strands undertaken at each class level. We have placed samples of this work in the hall for children and adults alike to share and admire what the children can do. This year’s exhibition will take place over the course of the week beginning April 1st and as usual the hall will be open for parents to come in and visit from 9am on Thursday 4th April until 1pm on Friday so please try to drop in.

Blue Flag Visit

As part of the Blue Flag Awards programme both 5th classes had a visit from Lynn Boylan MEP to discuss the value of this programme and her work in Europe. The children enjoyed the visit last Friday and were very interested in furthering their knowledge of how the European Parliament works.

Soccer Teams

Thank you to both our girls’ & boys’ soccer teams who are playing their matches over the past few weeks and giving 100% on the field of play each time. We can see the progress they are making each week and wishing the best of luck in the remaining games to come. A special thanks to the many parents who are giving lifts to the children and Conor & Ailish who have managed both teams.

Parent Table Quiz

6th class parents are organising a table quiz to raise funds for the 6th class show on Friday 29th March at 7:30pm in the school hall. The cost is €40 for a team of 4 adults or you can come along on the night for €10 and you will be placed on a team. We hope you will join us.
