A Thuismitheoirí/ a Chaomhnóirí,

Over the next few weeks as we near the end of this school year the day to day matters of preparing for 2019/2020 school year require attention. The booklists for all classes will issue shortly and Book haven will be available in the prefab on Tuesday 11th June should you wish to purchase your school books on site. They also have an online facility which will be noted on the list as it is sent out. We will also be sending out our re-registration forms for the next year which will need to be returned to the school prior to the last week of school. if you are leaving the school early for any reason can you please ensure that all library books/rental books are returned to the school as each year our stocks need replenishing. Equally if you are leaving our school to move away etc please inform the school office as soon as possible.

Learn Together Assembly

Our last Learn Together assembly of this school year took place in the school hall last Friday morning and the Junior Infants treated us to an array of great reasons why ‘It’s ok to be different’. The hall was decorated beautifully with their work as is our Learn Together display board in the foyer. Aside from all that hard work we heard some beautiful singing and we in CETNS are all so very proud of how far the junior infants have come since they joined us last September. We know everyone present enjoyed watching their performance. Well done to all the páistí and a particular word of thanks to Sinéad & JP’s for all their hard work.

Green Team & Student Council

As mentioned previously all involved in our Green Team & Student Council committees have been awarded our 8th Green Flag due to the hard work and commitment of children, staff & parents. Members of the team went to the national awards ceremony last week to represent CETNS and pick up our new flag. We were equally honoured to have children from our school sing our Green Team Global Citizenship song for all at the awards ceremony alongside David were Mackenzie, Harry & Rohan from Conor’s 3rd who sung their hearts out. Huge thanks to all staff for their help & support with this project and a particular word of thanks to David & Jill for accompanying our representatives on the day.

Santry Athletics Finals 2019 Image result for comhgairdeas

Since our last newsletter our school participated in the annual Santry Track & Field Finals. These events included individual sprints, sprint relays, 500m, hurdles, high-jump, long-jump and shot-putt. The children had 2 great days out representing the school in various events and we are delighted to congratulate Clara (gold) Ava (silver) and all the children who participated. A special word of thanks to Conor, Clare for bringing the children on the day & in particular JP for co-ordinating preparation for this event within CETNS.

6th class show

Preparations are well underway for the forthcoming 6th class show, The Lion King which is taking place on 11th and 12th of June. So far many hours of planning, preparation, talents and skills have gone in to our show with the help from many parents and staff members. The boys and girls are working extremely hard and they are looking forward to presenting it to the school community. Excitement is building around the school as we hear strange animal noises coming from the school hall. Please join us on one of the nights if you can. Due to space restrictions we usually ask parents from the junior side of the school (Infants-2nd classes) to come along on the 1st night & from the senior side (3rd-5th) if possible.

Day of Celebration 2nd classes

Work is underway with the Day of Celebration committee to prepare for this event with the children. Photographs have been arranged with both classes and the committee have looked for support from parents in 1st classes to help out on the night. It is customary for 1st class parents to support the event on the night so that 2nd class parents can enjoy the night with their children and families. If you can help please see email requesting support sent to 1st class parents.

6th class graduation

The 6th class graduation committee, Nuala & Anita will be in touch will parents in 6th classes shortly. They will similarly be seeking support from 5th class parents to help on their night and some information will follow to 5th class parents in due course.

Bloom in the Park

Elaine & Paula wrote to the organisers and managed to get some tickets for Bloom in the Park for some of the children from the Student Council and Green Team in our school. Well done and we hope they enjoy their attendance at the event this coming Friday. For more information see https://bloominthepark.com/

Lost & Found Items

We have a tremendous amount of clothing and lunch items in our lost & found box at the front door. We are asking all parents to remind their children to bring home the clothes & items they bring into school each day and to look after them please.
